The Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC), established by the Ministry of Health of Ghana, is a prominent research institution located in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region of Ghana. It originated from the Ghana Vitamin A Supplementation Trial and has since evolved into a center of excellence for health and demographic research. NHRC focuses on assessing the impact of health interventions through community and clinical trials, social and demographic research, and human resource development, aiming to inform policy and improve health outcomes both nationally and internationally.

<span data-metadata=""><span data-buffer="">Navigating Legacy Issues: The Challenges

Navrongo Health Research Center found itself at a crossroads. Their aging XG 210 Firewall had become a formidable obstacle, hindering their ability to conduct critical research. The device was not only reaching its end-of-life, but it was also plagued by persistent authentication issues, creating frustrating delays and security vulnerabilities.

The consequences of these challenges were far-reaching. Sensitive patient data was at risk, and the research team experienced frequent disruptions to their workflow. The outdated firewall had become a bottleneck, impeding the center’s progress and ability to deliver vital healthcare advancements.

<span data-metadata=""><span data-buffer="">Turning the Tide: Sophos XGS 2100 Firewall to the Rescue <span data-metadata="">

With the end-of-life date for their old Sophos firewall device approaching on March 31, 2025, NHRC decided to replace it instead of renewing the license and turned to Cloudware Africa for a solution.

In response to these challenges, we recommended the deployment of the Sophos XGS 2100 Firewall. This state-of-the-art firewall solution was selected for its advanced features, reliability, and ability to address the specific needs of Navrongo Health Research Centre. The deployment process was strategically planned and executed to ensure a seamless transition:

Our team conducted a thorough assessment of the existing infrastructure and developed a detailed migration plan to transfer configuration files accurately and efficiently.

We implemented robust authentication protocols to resolve the persistent issues faced with the XG 210, ensuring secure and smooth network access for all users.

The new XGS 2100 Firewall was deployed well ahead of the end-of-life deadline, providing the Health Research Centre with ample time to adapt to the new system and avoid any last-minute complications.

<span data-metadata=""><span data-buffer="">The Leap of Transformation: Benefits Realized <span data-metadata="">
